My painting process thrives on the interplay of observation, memory and imagination, and on the dynamic between intuition and intention. Each painting resolves its own balance of these elements. Once I begin a painting, it acquires its own voice and I try to listen. As color interacts with and becomes form – observed, simplified, transformed – magic can happen and, hopefully, a bit of beauty and truth result.
Each completed painting is the beginning of another.
I have lived in Maine, in the woods and close to the water, since 1997.
